Biography

Karl Hirsch has been involved in the general practice of law since 1978 with an emphasis in oil and gas, natural resources, real estate and general business. Mr. Hirsch has an extensive practice before state regulatory boards (Corporation Commission) in regulatory matters, civil litigation in state and federal courts, business transactions and general corporate matters in Oklahoma, Kansas and occasionally Texas and Colorado. Over his career, Mr. Hirsch has represented a wide variety of clients with diverse businesses and interests. Although his major emphasis has been oil and gas, natural resources and real estate, Mr. Hirsch has represented and continues to represent financial institutions, agricultural interests, not for profit corporations, manufacturing companies and other businesses in general corporate matters and civil litigation. Mr. Hirsch’s primary area of expertise and concentration, however, remains the energy sector.

Mr. Hirsch was born in 1952 in Delaware and moved to California before relocating in Oklahoma in the late 1960’s. He began his legal career with a medium sized general practice law firm, with an emphasis in natural resources law, real estate and general civil litigation. In the mid-1980’s, Mr. Hirsch moved to Denver as Vice-President of Land and General Counsel of a privately held oil and gas exploration company, becoming President of that company not long after his employment began. With the downturn of the industry, he returned to Oklahoma City in 1986 and became a partner in Musser, Bunch, Robinson and Hirsch. Musser and Bunch was one of largest “boutique” law firms of the 1980’s and 1990’s specializing in the representation of clients in the energy industry.. In 2001, Mr. Hirsch joined with Michael Mullins and Patricia Parrish (now Judge Parrish) to form Mullins, Hirsch & Parrish, the predecessor to Mullins, Hirsch & Jones.

Mr. Hirsch has authored a number of scholarly articles and been a featured speaker at numerous seminars. His reported cases include Brumark Corp. v. Corporation Commission, 864 P.2d 1287 (Okl. App. 1993); McClain v. Ricks Exploration Co., 894 P.2d 422 (Okl. App. 1994); RLM Petroleum Corp. v. Emmerich, 896 P.2d 531 (okl. 1995); Brumark Corp. v. Corporation Commission, 924 P.2d 296 (okl.App.1996); Vastar Resources, Inc. v. Howard, 38 P.3d 236 (Okl. App. 2001).

Mr. Hirsch is active in his community through the Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, Delta Upsilon Fraternity and through his church. He is also a director of the not for profit community theatre, Family Theatre Warehouse.
